The SU-27 (NATO codename: Flanker) is a Soviet/Russian multi-role, high-maneuverability all-weather fighter aircraft designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau. It is intended to establish air supremacy. The SU-27 features advanced avionics, a twin-engine design, and a variable sweep wing. The aircraft made its first flight on January 21, 1977. The SU-27 is widely used by the Russian military and exported to several countries. The SU-30, a derivative of the SU-27, is also in production.
