The organization, Grodненsky Zoopark, is the first zoo in Belarus, founded in 1927 by Professor Yan Kohanovsky in Grodno. The zoo, which covers an area of 3.4 hectares, currently houses over 3,400 animals and birds from 312 different species. Initially, a live corner was established in the local gymnasium. The popularity of the zoo led to the creation of a mobile branch in May 1948. The zoo remains a beloved recreational spot for not only local residents but also visitors to the city.
