It was established in 1992 and is currently known as the National Museum of History and Culture of Belarus. The museum's permanent exhibitions include 'Ancient Belarus', 'Art in Urban Culture of Belarus (19th-early 20th century)', and 'Belarus (16th-18th century)'. The museum is part of the cultural sector administration in Belarus and also manages the National Historic-Cultural Museum-Reserve in Nešviz. The museum's collection consists of nearly 370,000 items.
