This battleship was part of a series of three vessels, collectively known as the "Пересвет" series, designed for large-scale cruising operations. The ships in this series were characterized by excellent seafaring capabilities, a large fuel capacity, and a higher-than-average speed for battleships. According to historical records, the lead ship in the series, named "Peresvet," engaged in a duel with a Tatar hero named Chelibey or Temir-Murza prior to the Battle of Kulikovo in 1380. Both combatants perished in the encounter, and Peresvet was subsequently buried
