The organization is a full representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District. The representative plays a crucial role in representing the interests of the Russian Federation and maintaining close cooperation between the two countries. There have been several recorded meetings between the current President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, and previous representatives of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District. The most recent representative, Petr Latyshev, passed away in Moscow on December 2, 2008, at the age of 61.
