МУЗЕЙ ТКАЧЕСТВА

The organization Музей ТКАЧЕСТВА (Museum of Handicraft Tkachestvo) is a museum dedicated to traditional handcrafted tkaчеstvo (tkačestvo translates to weaving in English) in Belarus. It is located in the historic city of Polotsk and is the only museum of its kind in the country. The museum was opened in 1998 and is housed in a late 19th century residential building, which is a cultural heritage site. The exhibition area covers 217 square meters and displays 384 museum items. Visitors can observe the entire process of making linen thread and then creating a traditional Belarusian rusnik (embroidered tablecloth) on a real tkachestvo loom. The museum is located near the Kurgans of the Immortals
