The Internet Bird Collection joins the Macaulay Library – Macaulay Library

This website is dedicated to The Internet Bird Collection, which has joined forces with the Macaulay Library. The site provides access to a vast collection of bird species information, including photos, audio recordings, and details on various bird species. Josep del Hoyo, a doctor from Spain, started this project in the 1980s after growing frustrated with the inadequacy of existing field guides during a trip to Africa. Unable to find a comprehensive resource, he embarked on a mission to create one, forming Lynx Edicions in 1989 and launching the Handbook of the Birds of the World series in the same year. The website is a continuation of this extensive endeavor, offering users a wealth of knowledge on various bird species.
