This enterprise is the embassy or diplomatic mission of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta, commonly known as the Maltese Order or Sovereign Military Order of Malta. It represents the interests of this international organization in Belarus. The Maltese Order was established in the Middle Ages as a Catholic military order dedicated to the care of the sick and the protection of pilgrims. It has existed continuously since then, making it one of the oldest international organizations in the world. The embassy was established in Belarus in 1996, when diplomatic relations were established between the two countries. The current representative of the Maltese Order in Belarus presented his credentials to the President of Belarus in 2004.
